About the Maine Women's Business Center at CEI

The Women's Business Center provides confidential business counseling and practical workshops for entrepreneurs throughout Maine who want to start, maintain or grow their businesses. Our services are targeted at, but not limited to, women. We are experienced business specialists who provide flexible access to services to meet a variety of personal circumstances.

The Women's Business Center provides counseling and training in a full range of business issues to new and existing women business owners throughout Maine. The Maine Women's Business Center at CEI includes two SBA-funded Women's Business Center Programs – the Southern Maine Women's Business Program and the Rim Counties Women's Business Initiative. The MWBC can help build business skills by providing access to timely, accurate, tailored information within a setting that respects one's experience, management skills and learning style. Staffed by responsive and knowledgeable professional business counselors, the Maine Women's Business Center (WBC) responds to the opportunities and challenges faced by Maine's women business owners. We offer:

A long-term relationship with a skilled business counselor

Assistance in developing business skills
Ongoing support for business growth and expansion tailored to your business
Help with obtaining financing
Assistance in E-commerce and website planning
Opportunities for networking with other business owners

The WBC has offices throughout the state of Maine; however, we also are able to provide training, networking opportunities, and one-on-one counseling online via our easy-to-use virtual conference room tools. One-on-one consultation is free; workshops are offered for low or no cost, and financial assistance is available to those who qualify. All information is kept strictly confidential.

In addition, as part of our website www.wbcmaine.org we offer The Maine Women Business Owners Online Directory membership program for women who are at least 50% owners of a Maine-based business. Our online directory of Maine women-owned business has been in existence since 2004 and is a statewide resource for online networking and marketing for Maine's women business owners.

The application will give the Women's Business Center basic information about you and your business or business idea, and will enable us to serve you better. The WBC is required by funders to collect this information and it is kept completely confidential and only shared in aggregate form.
